THE LAST PAGE — TERMS OF SERVICE
Effective Date: May 15, 2026 Last Updated: May 15, 2026
1. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
By downloading, installing, or using The Last Page mobile application ("App," "The Last Page," or "the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and Cankat Saraç ("we," "us," or "our"), the developer and operator of The Last Page.
2. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE
The Last Page is a mobile application that lets you:
- Capture a photograph of the last page of a book.
- Identify the book automatically using an AI vision service (Section 7) and canonical metadata from Open Library.
- Search for books manually by title, author, or ISBN.
- Save the closing line ("sentence") and a private reflection ("feeling") for each book.
- Browse your personal shelf of endings.
- Receive an optional, biweekly local reminder.
- Subscribe to The Last Page Premium for expanded capacity and additional features.
The Last Page does not provide a social network. There is no feed, no follower system, and no public sharing. Your shelf is private to your device.
3. ELIGIBILITY
3.1 Minimum Age
You must be at least 13 years old to use The Last Page. Users in the European Economic Area (EEA) must be at least 16 years old, or must have verifiable parental or guardian consent, in line with Article 8 GDPR and applicable national digital-age-of-consent rules.
3.2 Legal Capacity
By using The Last Page, you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms in your jurisdiction.
3.3 Compliance
You agree that your use of The Last Page complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and rules in your jurisdiction, including copyright and intellectual property law.
4. USER-GENERATED CONTENT
4.1 Ownership
You retain full ownership of all content you create within The Last Page, including:
- Photographs of last pages you capture or select.
- Sentences you transcribe or paste.
- Feelings and reflections you write.
- Book lists you assemble within your shelf.
4.2 Local Storage
All content described in Section 4.1 is stored exclusively on your device, as detailed in the Privacy Policy. We do not access, read, copy, or process any of your sentences, feelings, or shelves. You are solely responsible for the security of your device and the content stored on it.
4.3 Limited Off-Device Processing
The single exception is the book identification flow: when you trigger it, the photograph of the last page is sent once to an external AI vision service for the sole purpose of identifying the book's title and author (see Privacy Policy, Section 4.1). By using the camera-capture or photo-pick identification flow, you authorize this transmission. If you do not wish to send any photograph to a third-party service, use the manual title-search flow instead.
4.4 Content Responsibility
You are solely responsible for the content you enter into the App, including the accuracy and legality of any quoted text. You represent that:
- You have the right to transcribe and store any quoted passage for personal, non-commercial use.
- You will not use the App to store, distribute, or otherwise process content that is illegal, infringing, or harmful.
4.5 Quotations and Copyright
The closing lines you save in The Last Page are typically short quotations from copyrighted works. Saving short quotations for private, non-commercial use generally falls within the fair use / fair dealing / quotation exceptions recognized in most jurisdictions, but this varies by country and circumstance. You are responsible for ensuring that your personal use of any quoted text complies with applicable copyright law in your jurisdiction. The Last Page does not grant you any license to redistribute, publish, or commercially exploit any quoted material.
5. THE LAST PAGE PREMIUM (SUBSCRIPTIONS AND PURCHASES)
5.1 Premium Features
The Last Page Premium unlocks features beyond the free tier, which may include (subject to change as features evolve):
- Unlimited library capacity (free tier is limited).
- Printable PDF keepsake of your library.
- Cross-device sync (when and where available).
- Custom reminder schedules.
- Early access to new capture formats.
5.2 Subscription Plans and Lifetime Option
Premium is offered as:
- Premium Monthly — recurring monthly subscription, with an optional free trial.
- Premium Annual — recurring yearly subscription, with an optional free trial.
- Premium Lifetime — single, one-time purchase. Not a subscription. Never renews.
Prices are displayed in your local currency at the point of purchase and are subject to change with advance notice via the platform store.
5.3 Billing and Auto-Renewal
Recurring subscriptions are billed through the platform store (Apple App Store or Google Play Store). Payment is charged to your store account upon purchase confirmation. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current billing period at the then-current price.
5.4 Free Trial
If a free trial is offered:
- The trial begins immediately upon enrollment.
- Apple or Google will capture your payment method at trial start but will not charge you during the trial.
- If you do not cancel before the trial period ends, your subscription will begin and you will be charged for the selected plan.
5.5 Cancellation
You can cancel your subscription at any time through your platform's subscription settings:
- iOS: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → The Last Page
- Android: Google Play → Subscriptions → The Last Page
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain premium access through the end of the period you have paid for. We do not process cancellations inside the app, as required by Apple App Store Review Guideline 3.1.1 and Google Play policy.
5.6 Refunds
All purchases are subject to the refund policies of the applicable platform store. We do not independently process refunds. To request a refund:
- iOS: reportaproblem.apple.com
- Android: Google Play Help.
5.7 Restore Purchases
A Restore Purchases option is available on the paywall and in account settings to restore active entitlements on a new device or after reinstall.
5.8 Lifetime Purchase
The Lifetime plan is a single one-time purchase. There are no recurring charges. The Lifetime plan grants premium access on the platform on which it was purchased, for as long as the App is operated and remains compatible with that platform's current OS versions. Apple and Google control the App's ongoing distribution; we cannot guarantee perpetual availability of any specific platform or device beyond reasonable commercial efforts.
Any physical keepsake offered as part of the Lifetime plan (where described in the App's purchase screen) is subject to availability, regional shipping limits, and the description shown at the time of purchase.
5.9 Price Changes
We reserve the right to adjust subscription prices. Existing subscribers will be notified of price changes through the platform's standard notification mechanisms. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing. You may cancel before any new price takes effect.
5.10 EU "Right of Withdrawal" Notice
If you are a consumer in the European Union or United Kingdom, you ordinarily have a 14-day right of withdrawal for digital purchases. By starting to use the Premium features (including any digital content delivered as part of Premium) immediately after purchase, you expressly request immediate performance and acknowledge that your right of withdrawal may be lost once performance has begun, to the extent permitted by applicable law. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
6. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
6.1 Our Property
All elements of The Last Page — including the App's code, design, graphics, animations, copy, identification prompts, and brand — are the intellectual property of Cankat Saraç and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
6.2 License to Use
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use The Last Page on your personal device for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.
6.3 Restrictions
You may not:
- Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App.
- Remove or alter copyright notices or proprietary labels.
- Use the App for commercial purposes without our express written consent.
- Sublicense, sell, or transfer your license to any third party.
- Use automated tools to scrape, extract, or collect data from the App or its backing services.
- Use the App to abuse, overload, or circumvent rate limits on Open Library or the AI identification service.
6.4 Open Library and Book Metadata
Book metadata displayed in the App (titles, authors, cover images, edition information) is sourced from Open Library and is provided subject to the Internet Archive's terms (https://archive.org/about/terms.php). Cover images shown in the App are served by Open Library and may be subject to the rights of the original publishers. We do not warrant the accuracy or completeness of any metadata returned by Open Library.
7. AI BOOK IDENTIFICATION
The book-identification feature uses an external AI vision model (currently Google Gemini 2.5 Flash, accessed through the Rork Toolkit endpoint) to estimate a book's title and author from a photograph of its last page.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- Identification is best-effort and may be incorrect, partial, or unavailable.
- The model is given strict instructions to return only `{title, author, confidence}` and to refuse uncertain identifications.
- The photograph of the last page is the only piece of in-app data transmitted by this feature. Your sentence and feeling are never sent. See Privacy Policy, Section 4.1.
- The underlying model provider may operate from a jurisdiction outside your country, and HTTP-level metadata (such as IP address) is necessarily visible to the receiving server.
If you are uncomfortable with this trade-off, use the manual title-search flow, which does not invoke the AI vision model.
We may change the AI provider, model version, or endpoint at any time without notice, provided the privacy guarantees described in the Privacy Policy continue to apply.
8. PROHIBITED USES
You agree not to use The Last Page to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation, including copyright law.
- Infringe the intellectual property or privacy rights of any person.
- Transmit viruses, malware, or other harmful code.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App, its backing services, or other users' devices.
- Submit images to the identification feature that are not photographs of a book's last page, including images intended to abuse the AI system, generate harmful output, or extract model behavior.
- Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the App or interfere with other users' enjoyment.
- Use the App for fraudulent purposes or to deceive others.
9. DISCLAIMERS AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
9.1 "As Is" Service
The Last Page is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
9.2 Identification Accuracy
We do not warrant that:
- The AI vision model will correctly identify any given book.
- Open Library will return correct or complete metadata for any given book.
- Any specific book is present in Open Library's database.
You are responsible for verifying any title or author that matters to you.
9.3 Data Loss
Because all in-app content is stored locally on your device, loss, damage, or wipe of your device will result in loss of your saved endings. We strongly recommend that you back up your device through Apple iCloud or Google Drive device backup if preserving your library matters to you. We are not liable for any loss of locally stored content.
9.4 Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL CANKAT SARAÇ, HIS AFFILIATES, LICENSORS, SERVICE PROVIDERS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY:
- INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES;
- LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES;
- DAMAGES RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP;
- DAMAGES RESULTING FROM ERRORS IN BOOK IDENTIFICATION OR OPEN LIBRARY METADATA;
- DAMAGES RESULTING FROM LOSS OF LOCALLY STORED CONTENT;
- DAMAGES RESULTING FROM UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO YOUR DEVICE OR LOCAL DATA;
WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE USE OF THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR USD $10.00, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
9.5 EU and UK Consumer Rights
If you are a consumer in the European Union or United Kingdom, nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under mandatory consumer protection law, including rights under the EU Consumer Rights Directive, the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, or applicable national consumer protection legislation.
10. INDEMNIFICATION
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Cankat Saraç, his affiliates, and their respective directors, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with:
- Your use of or access to The Last Page.
- Your violation of these Terms.
- Your violation of any law or the rights of any third party (including copyright holders of quoted text).
- Any content you create, capture, or input into the App.
- Any misuse of the AI identification feature.
11. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The Last Page integrates with the following third-party services, each subject to its own terms:
- Apple App Store / Google Play Store — distribution and purchase processing.
- RevenueCat — subscription and entitlement management.
- Rork Toolkit / Google Gemini API — book identification from photographs.
- Open Library (Internet Archive) — public book metadata.
We have no control over these third parties' practices, content, or availability, and we are not responsible for them. Your use of any third-party service is governed by that service's terms and privacy policy.
12. MODIFICATIONS TO THE SERVICE AND TERMS
12.1 Service Changes
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue The Last Page or any part of it at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation. If we discontinue the App or a paid feature, we will, where reasonably possible, give existing subscribers reasonable advance notice via the platform's notification mechanisms or an in-app notice.
12.2 Terms Changes
We may revise these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via an in-app notice on the next launch following the change. Continued use of The Last Page after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
If you do not agree with revised Terms, you must discontinue use and uninstall the App.
13. TERMINATION
13.1 By You
You may terminate these Terms at any time by uninstalling the App. Uninstalling will permanently delete all locally stored content.
13.2 By Us
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, with or without cause, including for material violation of these Terms. Because The Last Page does not require an account, "termination" in practice means we may release App updates that restrict access from prior versions, or withdraw the App from distribution platforms.
If we terminate your access for material breach, no refund of unused subscription time is owed beyond what is required by applicable law and the platform store policies.
14. GOVERNING LAW AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION
14.1 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
14.2 Informal Resolution
Before filing any formal legal claim, you agree to contact us at dev@teampire.uk and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.
14.3 Arbitration (Non-EU / Non-UK Users)
For users outside the European Union and United Kingdom, any dispute not resolved informally shall be submitted to binding individual arbitration under the Rules of the Istanbul Arbitration Centre (ISTAC), conducted in Istanbul, Türkiye, in English. You waive any right to participate in class action litigation or class arbitration.
14.4 EU and EEA Users
If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA, you have the right to bring proceedings before the courts of your country of residence, and the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country may apply. The EU Online Dispute Resolution platform is available at: https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
14.5 UK Users
If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom, you have the right to bring proceedings before the courts of England and Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland as applicable, and the mandatory consumer protection laws of the United Kingdom may apply.
15. GENERAL PROVISIONS
15.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding The Last Page and supersede all prior agreements.
15.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
15.3 Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision in these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
15.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or any rights under them without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of substantially all of our assets, provided the successor agrees to be bound by the same obligations.
15.5 No Partnership
Nothing in these Terms creates any partnership, joint venture, employment, or agency relationship between you and us.
15.6 Apple-Specific Terms (iOS Users)
If you obtained the App through the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that:
- These Terms are concluded between you and Cankat Saraç only, not with Apple.
- Apple is not responsible for the App or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App.
- In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the App to you (where applicable); to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App.
- Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, has the right (and is deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you.
